ATTITUDE, CONSISTENCY, AND KNOWLEDGE

By Dave Mugavero

Attitude, consistency and knowledge are the three secret keys to your success.

Over the last 24 years I’ve made my living as a fitness professional. Training clients and being a part of changing their lives has been one of the most rewarding experiences that I have had. I’ve trained literally hundreds of clients over that time period and in the process have made some very interesting observations.

I should mention that I have worked with all types of clients, both male and female. They have ranged in age from 10 to 86 years of age and have come from varied ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. The observation that has most intrigued me deals with the success levels of my clients. The most successful clients possessed very different characteristics from the clients who were less successful in accomplishing their goals.

What I have found after compiling this data for the last 24 years is that there are three distinctive and very important keys that will eventually make someone successful in anything that they do in life, whether it is getting in shape, building a successful business career or raising children.

Here are what I have overwhelming found to be the keys to success:

No. 1 ATTITUDE. We’ve all heard the saying, “Attitude is everything.” From my observations that’s seems to hold true in most cases. Attitude absolutely seems to be the biggest factor in determining success. If a person thinks they can do something they probably can. If they think they can’t do something they probably can’t. Believe me either way they will typically be right. Remember the Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur? Did they think they couldn’t fly? See what I mean?

No. 2 CONSISTENCY. Have you ever heard the saying that “Overnight success takes 30 years,” or the old adage “slow and steady wins the race?” If you do anything consistently for a long period of time you almost can’t help but improve. It’s inevitable. Think about it. Michael Jordan didn’t become the best player in the NBA by not practicing.

No. 3 KNOWLEDGE. The third and final key to success in my observation is knowledge. The degree of knowledge and the practical way with which you apply that knowledge in your everyday life can and most likely will be one of the biggest determining factors for you to achieve success in any endeavor.

So don’t forget, when you wake up in the morning and look in the mirror, think to yourself ATTITUDE, CONSISTENCY, and KNOWLEDGE will take me where I want to go. Believe you can, Do what you can, and Know all you can. It’s all up to you any way. What are you waiting for?
