Good, now that you’ve had your reality check. Let’s talk about how you can lose the last 10 pounds with 7 simple steps that will help you organize your fitness goals.
When it comes to fat loss goals, most people overestimate how hard it will be, but underestimate how long it will take. People come to me all the time – usually on Thursday – asking what they can do to lose weight – by the time they hit the beach on Saturday!
Headlines like the one above promise “quick and easy” solutions for how to lose the last 10 pounds. Hey, that’s what everybody’s wants, but when you clicked on this headline, all you got was a smack that I guarantee will save you from wasting your money, energy, and time empty promises.
Why?
Well, for a couple of BIG reasons:
You want to lose the last 10 pounds? That’s a great goal.
But, it’s not going to happen this weekend without compromising your health and well-being. So, let’s break down how you’re going to lose the last 10 pounds with 7 goal setting tips.
First, what’s a realistic timeline? Losing the last ten pounds by the weekend is not realistic or healthy. In my experience, most individuals will successfully reach this goal within a timeline of 4-8 weeks. It’s difficult to be more specific without knowing your current situation, history, or fitness level.
However, once you have a completion date for your goal of losing the last ten pounds, you need to work backwards from your goal.
For example, let’s say your goal is to lose the last 10 pounds in six weeks. Here’s what you should do:
Get a calendar. Take a marker and put an X’ on the weekend six weeks from now.
Write down in detail what you’re going to do that day and how you’re going to feel. You need to see a better body in your mind before you’ll ever see a better body in the mirror.
Now, work your goal backwards. Where do you need to be 5 weeks from now, 4 weeks from now, 3 weeks…2 weeks…1 week. Mark it on the calendar (Keep in mind fat loss is not always linear).
Now, what exactly do you need to do to reach each little goal – starting TODAY? If you reach these little goals, guess what? You lose the last 10 pounds. It’s that simple.
Make a list of any obstacles that stand between you and the mental picture of where you want to be in 6 weeks as you have outlined above in step two.
What is your plan of attack? How are you going to address and eliminate these obstacles? Again, write this down.
Take action. Follow your plan.
Now that you have these 7 goal setting tips to lose the last ten pounds this weekend (6 weeks from now!), you can’t screw this up.
Well, sort of.
If you have the wrong fitness plan, it doesn’t matter how well you execute it.
If you have the right fitness plan, you still need to execute it properly.
If you have the wrong fitness plan, and your execution sucks…get used to hanging out with those last ten pounds.
If you don’t really know exactly what it takes to lose the last ten pounds, you need to overcome this. There are many ways to do this, but I’d recommend that you consult with a fitness expert that knows exactly what it takes – that makes a living helping people like you lose the last ten pounds.
